Dramatic scenes unfolded during Enforcement Directorate raids across Punjab and Chandigarh as officials searched multiple properties linked to an alleged land and licencing fraud case on Thursday. In Mohali’s Chajju Majra area near Kharar, panic erupted inside a residential society after two bags, allegedly packed with cash, were reportedly hurled from a ninth-floor flat while ED teams conducted searches upstairs. Residents soon gathered downstairs after bundles of Rs 500 notes were seen scattered across the complex premises.
Officials quickly secured the area and seized the bags, with sources estimating the recovered amount at nearly Rs 21 lakh. The flat, located in Western Towers, is said to be connected to businessman Nitin Bansal, though authorities have not officially confirmed ownership details.
Simultaneous searches were also carried out in Chandigarh and Patiala as investigators widened their probe into alleged irregularities involving CLU licences, real-estate firms, and suspected financial fraud worth hundreds of crores.
The ED is yet to release an official statement on the recoveries or political links being speculated.
