“I am trapped, bro… bas tu mat phasna.”
The death of 31-year-old former Miss Pune, Twisha Sharma, in Bhopal has triggered allegations of dowry harassment and investigative lapses. Found dead five months after marrying lawyer Samarth Singh, her family alleges physical abuse and a forced pregnancy termination. Concerns of a cover-up have emerged as the belt used in the hanging was reportedly not submitted for forensic matching during the AIIMS autopsy. Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to nab Twisha Sharma's absconding husband while his mother, a retired judge, has been granted anticipatory bail. Similarly, in Greater Noida, a woman named Deepika died following alleged torture over demands for a luxury SUV, leading to the arrest of her husband and father-in-law. In other development, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports has summoned National Testing Agency (NTA) Chairperson Pradeep Kumar Joshi to review reforms in the examination body and discuss the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case on May 21.
