The opposition will declare its prime ministerial candidate only after the 2019 Lok Sabha election, General Secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) - CPI(M) - Sitaram Yechury said on Monday. Speaking during a session at Agenda Aaj Tak in New Delhi, Yechury said the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA will meet the same fate as it did in 2004 i.e. defeat in Lok Sabha election.
"Today the BJP is asking Modi versus who? In 2003-04, it asked Vajpayeeji versus who. We all know the result. Manmohan Singh remained India's prime minister for the next 10 years without a break," Yechury said, adding that the result in 2019 will be the same as 2004-BJP's defeat.
