MG commences production of Majestor ahead of India launch
JSW MG Motor India has begun production of the Majestor SUV in India, ahead of its upcoming launch. Set to replace the Gloster, the Majestor combines premium luxury, advanced technology and serious off-road capability.

JSW MG Motor India has officially commenced production of the MG Majestor at its Halol manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The Majestor is set to replace the outgoing Gloster at the top of MG’s combustion-powered portfolio and will take on established rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.
Pre-bookings for the Majestor are already underway for a token amount of Rs 41,000, while prices are expected to fall between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). The official launch timeline, however, is yet to be announced.
Exterior design
The Majestor adopts a traditional body-on-frame SUV stance with large proportions and an upright design. MG says the SUV stands among the largest in its segment in terms of overall dimensions. The front fascia is dominated by a large Mosaic Matrix grille, flanked by vertically stacked tri-beam LED headlamps and signature ‘Dragon Eye’ daytime running lamps.
Chunky body cladding, silver skid plates and 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels further enhance its rugged appeal, while connected LED tail-lamps at the rear lend a modern touch. The SUV also features side steps, roof rails and dual exhaust outlets to underline its premium and off-road-oriented character.
Interior design
Inside, the Majestor gets a dark-themed cabin with smoked ebony finishes, layered dashboard elements and silver accents. The SUV will be offered in both six-seat and seven-seat layouts, with leatherette upholstery available as standard.
The dashboard houses dual digital displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, along with a three-spoke steering wheel and a column-mounted gear selector. MG has also equipped the SUV with a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12-speaker JBL audio system and three-zone climate control.
Comfort-focused features include ventilated front seats with massage functionality, a 12-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, powered co-driver seat, gesture-controlled powered tailgate, dual wireless charging pads and a 220V power outlet for rear passengers.
The SUV also debuts MG’s updated i-Smart 2.0 connected car technology, developed in collaboration with Reliance Jio. The system supports over 75 connected features, including remote vehicle controls, digital Bluetooth key sharing, valet mode and integrated music streaming services.
Twin-turbo diesel engine with serious off-road hardware
Powering the Majestor is a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine sourced from the Gloster, producing 215bhp and 478.5Nm of torque. The motor is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while buyers will have the option of both 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains.
The four-wheel-drive variants come equipped with MG’s M-Hub off-road system and multiple terrain modes including Sand, Rock, Mud, Snow and Normal. The SUV also features a triple differential lock setup with front, centre and rear locking differentials, aimed at improving traction in demanding off-road situations.
Additional capability-focused features include low-speed off-road assist, crawl control and a claimed water-wading capacity of up to 810mm.
Safety and ADAS features
MG has loaded the Majestor with an extensive safety package that includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold and hill descent control.
The SUV also gets Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking and intelligent headlamp control, positioning it as one of the more technology-focused offerings in the segment.
