Ashok Leyland twin-fuel Dost, Dost+ XL launched, price starts at Rs 8.20 lakh
Ashok Leyland has launched twin-fuel variants of the Dost and Dost+ XL, offering CNG-petrol flexibility, improved range, and cost efficiency, aimed at small businesses and last-mile logistics operators across India.

Ashok Leyland has expanded its light commercial vehicle (LCV) portfolio with the launch of twin-fuel variants of its popular Dost and Dost+ XL.
Unveiled in Delhi by Amandeep Singh, President – LCV, IO, Defence & Power Solutions, and Viplav Shah, Head – LCV Business, the new models introduce bio-fuel technology that enables a switch between CNG and petrol.
Operators can primarily run the vehicles on CNG for lower running costs and reduced emissions, while retaining petrol as a backup to ensure uninterrupted journeys in areas with limited CNG infrastructure.
Speaking at the launch, Amandeep Singh said the introduction of twin-fuel technology marks a significant step towards sustainable and customer-focused innovation. He added that the solution allows operators to balance cost efficiency with operational flexibility while contributing to lower emissions.
Echoing similar sentiments, Viplav Shah noted that the DOST range already enjoys strong trust among small businesses, and the twin-fuel variants are designed to enhance efficiency and expand earning potential. He emphasised that the ability to switch fuels will particularly benefit urban and semi-urban logistics operators and last-mile delivery businesses.
In terms of specifications, the twin-fuel DOST offers a payload capacity of 1,218kg and a combined driving range of around 400km. It comes equipped with a 120-litre CNG tank along with a 5-litre petrol tank for emergency use. Meanwhile, the DOST+ XL twin-fuel variant raises the bar with a payload capacity of 1,410kg, a larger 148-litre CNG tank, and a total driving range of up to 500km.
With this move, Ashok Leyland aims to strengthen its foothold in the LCV segment by combining proven performance with evolving fuel technologies. The twin-fuel Dost is priced from Rs 8.20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Dost+ XL twin-fuel variant starts at Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning them as competitive offerings for cost-conscious fleet operators and small businesses.
