17-year-old shot at Delhi eatery after argument over chair touch

A 17-year-old boy was shot at Delhi's Amar Colony eatery after a brief altercation with a group of boys. Police are scanning CCTV footage and using technical surveillance to identify and catch the accused.

A 17-year-old boy was critically injured after being shot at an eatery in the Amar Colony area of South East Delhi on Monday evening, police said.

According to police, a PCR call regarding the firing incident was received at Amar Colony police station at around 7.54 pm. Local police teams, along with the SHO and ACP, immediately rushed to the spot, but the injured boy had already been shifted to Moolchand Hospital by then.

Senior officers later reached the hospital and found the victim unconscious and on ventilator support. He was subsequently shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre for further treatment.

Police said the teenager is a resident of the Chattarpur Enclave area, where his father runs a laundry business. His condition is stated to be critical but stable.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim was having food with his friends at the eatery when a group of boys passed by. During the interaction, one of the boys allegedly touched the victim’s chair, leading to an objection from the teenager.

The group reportedly left the spot but returned after around four to five minutes. One of the boys then allegedly opened fire at the victim before fleeing from the scene. Police said only one bullet was fired and no one else was injured in the incident.

Crime team officials inspected the spot and multiple police teams have been deployed to analyse CCTV footage and conduct technical surveillance to identify and apprehend the accused.

CCTV footage from the restaurant and surrounding areas is being scanned to establish the sequence of events and trace the route used by the accused to escape, the officer said.
