60-year-old guard beaten, mowed down by SUV twice after minor dispute in Delhi
A 60-year-old security guard was allegedly beaten with a stick and run over twice by an SUV in Delhi's Paschim Vihar West area after a dispute with its occupants. CCTV footage captured the sequence of events, while skid marks and forensic evidence have strengthened police suspicion that the killing was deliberate.

A 60-year-old security guard was allegedly killed after being assaulted with a stick and run over twice by an SUV following a dispute in Delhi's Paschim Vihar West area early Sunday morning, police said. The victim, identified as Bijender Bharadwaj, was working as a chowkidar (security guard) at a tempo stand near Shri Shidh Baba Mandir in Peeragarhi village in outer Delhi.
Police said a PCR call regarding the incident was received at around 4.03 am on Sunday. When officers reached the entry gate of the tempo stand, Bijender was found lying unconscious on the road. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the elderly guard had an argument with the occupants of an SUV shortly before the incident.

According to CCTV footage examined by police, the SUV was initially seen parked at one corner of the area with its headlights on, while the victim was sitting on a chair nearby. Around 2.52 am, one of the accused stepped out of the vehicle carrying a large stick and allegedly attacked the guard.
As Bijender tried to escape, the accused returned to the SUV and ran him over once, pushing him towards a corner, police said. When the victim attempted to flee towards the main road, the accused allegedly ran him over a second time before escaping from the spot around 2.54 am.
Police said skid marks were found at the scene, strengthening suspicion that the act was deliberate. Investigators said CCTV footage suggested the victim may have been specifically targeted and that all possible angles were being probed.
“CCTV footage in and around the area revealed that the deceased was run over twice by a four-wheeler. The footage is being examined thoroughly to identify the vehicle and reconstruct the exact sequence of events and what led to the matter,” an officer said.
Police also said no eyewitnesses were found at the scene and teams are scanning CCTV footage from nearby roads, traffic intersections and commercial establishments to trace the SUV’s movement. According to the victim’s family, the vehicle’s registration number was not visible in the footage.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Paschim Vihar West police station. The forensic science laboratory team and crime branch officials also inspected the spot and collected forensic and technical evidence.
Bijender’s nephew, Sunil Bhardwaj, said the victim had no known enmity with anyone and had been working at the tempo stand for the past one year. “We learned about the incident around 3.30 pm. My uncle was a simple man,” he said.
Multiple teams, including sub-division crack teams and Outer district operations units, have been tasked with tracing the accused and identifying the vehicle involved.
