SpiceJet plane hits stationary Akasa Air plane at Delhi airport

A major aviation incident occurred at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi when a taxiing SpiceJet Boeing 737 aircraft collided with a stationary Akasa flight. The Akasa Air flight, designated as QP 1406, was scheduled to depart for Hyderabad and had passengers and crew on board at the time of the collision. During the incident, the right winglet of the SpiceJet aircraft struck the left-hand horizontal stabiliser of the Akasa Air plane, causing a portion of the SpiceJet winglet to break off and become embedded in the stationary aircraft. Following the collision, both aircraft were immediately grounded for inspection and repairs. Authorities confirmed that all passengers and crew members on the Akasa Air flight were safely disembarked without any reported injuries or casualties. The airline subsequently made alternative travel arrangements for the affected passengers heading to Hyderabad.
