Speeding Mercedes kills man on Hyderabad bridge, driver on the run
A speeding Mercedes hit and killed a man on Hyderabad's Cable Bridge, with the driver fleeing the scene.
A man was killed after being struck by a speeding Mercedes car on Hyderabad’s Cable Bridge in the early hours of Sunday, police said.
The accident occurred around 3.15 am when the victim, Gosa Shyam Raj, was standing on the bridge. A Mercedes car rammed him, leaving him with severe injuries, particularly to his eyes, police added.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later in the evening despite doctors’ efforts.
The vehicle involved in the incident, bearing a West Bengal registration, has been seized. However, the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident and remains absconding.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s wife, Hyderabad police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace the driver.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident, police said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
