Lucknow dhaba owner shot dead after filming clash outside his eatery
A Lucknow dhaba owner was shot dead after allegedly filming youths fighting outside his restaurant. The killing has led to detentions and renewed concern over law and order in the city.

A 28-year-old dhaba owner was shot dead in Lucknow after allegedly filming a group of youngsters involved in a brawl outside his restaurant, police said on Monday. Three suspects have been detained for questioning in connection with the murder. The incident took place in the Uttar Pradesh capital on Sunday evening and triggered panic in the area.
The victim, identified as Vijay Yadav, ran Yadav Dhaba and Family Restaurant. According to police and eyewitnesses, Vijay was at the eatery around 5 pm when two motorcycle-borne assailants arrived and opened fire at him. The bullet struck him in the forehead, leaving him critically injured.
Eyewitnesses said a group of men had been involved in a heated argument and physical altercation outside the dhaba shortly before the shooting. Vijay reportedly objected to the commotion and began recording a video on his mobile phone when they refused to stop. The men allegedly got enraged over the filming and left the spot, only to return later on a motorcycle and shoot Vijay.
The firing created chaos at the restaurant as customers and nearby shopkeepers rushed to help the injured man. He was initially taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to the Trauma Centre due to his critical condition. However, he died during surgery late Sunday night.
Mausam, a staff member at the dhaba, said, "I heard a gunshot. When I came downstairs, I saw Vijay Yadav lying on the ground in a pool of blood."
The victim’s family broke down at the hospital after learning about his condition, while his mother was seen wailing inconsolably outside the Trauma Centre.
Police said they have recovered a video recorded before the shooting in which some men can allegedly be seen fighting outside the restaurant. CCTV footage from the area is also being examined.
Senior police officer Twinkle Jain said multiple teams had been formed to trace the accused. “Vijay Yadav sustained a gunshot injury to his forehead. An investigation is underway based on CCTV footage and other evidence. Three teams have been deployed, and three suspects have been detained for questioning,” the officer said.
Police said they were probing the case from all possible angles. The broad daylight killing has once again raised concerns over law and order in Lucknow.
