In an exclusive interview with India Today, Naina Sharma, Twisha Sharma's cousin, has refuted allegations made by her mother-in-law regarding substance abuse and mental health issues. Naina Sharma dismissed claims that Twisha consumed drugs or suffered from schizophrenia, stating the accusations are an attempt to divert attention. The cousin clarified that the couple might have been attending marriage counselling, which should not be misrepresented as treatment for severe mental illness. Alleging foul play, the family maintained that the death was premeditated and not a suicide, pointing to the mother-in-law's behaviour during recent interviews. The family is currently refusing to perform the last rites, leaving the body in the mortuary until the husband is arrested and a proper police investigation is conducted. They are demanding strict action and a comprehensive charge sheet against the accused husband, emphasising their pursuit of justice for the young woman.
