Thieves broke into Jind's PP Center General Hospital storeroom in Haryana on Thursday and stole nearly 1,710 doses of Covaxin and Covishield vaccines following which now the district is left with no vaccines at the moment. However, other medicines and cash in the storeroom were left untouched.
The accused had their target fixed on the corona vaccines. The police have registered a case against unidentified persons.
The hospital administration had neither installed a CCTV camera near the storeroom nor had deployed a guard to prevent vaccine theft.
In another incident, some people ransacked the oxygen storeroom and looted cylinders from Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district hospital emerged on Tuesday night. Doctors and paramedical staff of the hospital had to briefly stop work after the loot. Work was resumed after police beefed security at the hospital campus.
A similar incident took place at the hospital on Monday as well. While the incident was reported to the police, no one was booked.
