Maharashtra reports more than 50,000 fresh Covid cases in 24 hours for 7th day running, lockdown seems imminent

Maharashtra reported more than 50,000 fresh Covid-19 cases in 24 hours for the seventh day running on Monday. The active caseload in the state is now more than 5,60,000.

With the surge in cases, fear of a complete lockdown looms large in Maharashtra. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will be holding a cabinet meeting on Wednesday after which a decision is expected. Health Minister Rajesh Tope has suggested that a lockdown seems imminent.
