8 ground realities every student realises after graduating college

Are you graduating? Congratulations are in order! If you've been jealous of your seniors for having a great life after college or you can't wait to get out of the college you've always been cursing, here's your moment. As everyone has been telling you, life after college is difficult as you're on your own. Here are some of the possibilities and challenges you might face as you're taking your big step into the world:

1. Uncertainty prevails

Unless you graduated from a top B school or one of the IITs, or you're one of those 10 per cent who are totally on track with their life plan, there's always an uncertainty about what to do next.

2. The subject you've majored in has no monetary prospect

The subject that everyone told you had scope doesn't have scope anymore. But it's too late to change your major and now, you are embarrassingly stuck in the job market, probably for life.

3. The never-ending cycle of needing experience to get experience

Eligibility criteria for fresher's position: Master's degree, 5 years of experience, knowledge of how to cure cancer.

4. Starting from scratch after graduating

You'll take up an entry level job as an intern somewhere and be paid peanuts. Those life goals you had seem even farther now, don't they?

5. Your life looks nothing like what you dreamed of as a child

"I'll buy myself a Range Rover when I grow up," said every other child when growing up. When you are a kid, being an adult seems glamorous and fun. The prospect of not asking parents for money and being completely independent seems very empowering, doesn't it? But then, you realise that you won't be able to afford this lifestyle of yours if not with the help of your parents. The choice is yours!

6. Seeing people on social media doing better than you

As you scroll through Facebook, you regularly come across pictures and updates by people you studied with in school. It's not fun anymore to see people moving out of the country or getting an amazing job or getting married with dream honeymoons while you're stuck here not doing anything productive and have no idea where you're going.

7. Realising your cursed college wasn't that bad after all

Spent four years in a college cursing everything about it from the teachers, to students, to administration? Well, shit! It was definitely the best thing ever happened to you. *can I go back to the college?*

8. No one cares if you're cool!

Were you have been the member of the coolest music band in your college and had girls swooning over you? Guess what, no one cares anymore! It's time to either take that band to a bigger level or you're just another face in the crowd.

This article is not to demotivate you, but rather to give you a reality check on life after college. So, make the most of your college time, take chances and be confident. Believe in your dreams and everything will come around!
