Meet Aarav Vats: Class 10 student who scored 96.6% amid cancer treatment
Despite hospital visits and chemotherapy, Delhi student Aarav Vats achieved 96.6% in CBSE Class 10 Board exam results 2026. A resident of Mehrauli, he has been undergoing treatment for lymphoblastic lymphoma, a form of cancer.

CBSE Board exam results 2026 brought forward an inspiring story from Delhi, where Aarav Vats, a Class 10 student from Delhi, scored an impressive 96.6% marks while undergoing treatment for lymphoblastic lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
For Aarav, the result declared by CBSE was not just about marks. It was about continuing his studies through two years of medical treatment, hospital visits, and recovery cycles, without giving up on academics.
A student of Amity International School, Saket, Aarav lives with his family in Mehrauli, New Delhi, where conversations around health and healing are almost second nature.
His father, Ajay Vats, is a general physician, and his mother, Rajni Vats, is a gynaecologist who runs a clinic. His elder brother is pursuing BTech in computer science.
Over the past two years, Aarav has been battling lymphoblastic lymphoma, a fast-growing form of cancer that mostly affects children and teenagers. The treatment is long, intense and often exhausting. It demands time, energy and resilience, things most Class 10 students can fully devote to their studies. Aarav had to divide them.
And yet, he didn’t stop.
HOW DID HE STUDY THROUGH HOSPITAL AND TREATMENT
“I used to study at school and my teachers and the principal, they all helped me,” Aarav told India Today.
“Whenever I fell sick or had to be hospitalised, they took online classes and helped me with my work,” he added. This meant that his preparation often shifted between classrooms and hospital rooms.
“They solved any doubts that I had through the phone and helped me a lot,” he said.
This consistent support played a crucial role, but Aarav also maintained his own discipline.
“I used to study around five to six hours each day,” he said.
He did not follow extreme study schedules, but focused on being regular with his preparation, even on difficult days. This mix of school support and online learning helped him stay connected to his syllabus throughout his treatment.
LIFE BEYOND STUDIES: MUSIC, READING, PAINTING
Alongside academics and treatment, Aarav also focused on activities that helped him stay mentally strong. He spent time playing console games, reading books, and drawing.
Music, in particular, became an important part of his routine. He learnt to play the guitar on his own through YouTube and has been practising for the past three to four years.
These activities helped him maintain a sense of normalcy during treatment and recovery.
A DREAM TO BECOME AN ASTROPHYSICIST
Aarav’s favourite subjects are Physics and Maths, and he plans to take PCM in Class 11. Chemistry and English also interest him.
Beyond that, his dream goes even further.
“I want to become an astrophysicist and I want to go into research,” he said.
Despite his ongoing health journey, he remains focused on his academic and career goals.
FAMILY: HIS BIGGEST STRENGTH
Aarav credits his family for being his strongest support system.
“My idols are my parents who never give up and who have supported me throughout the journey,” Aarav said.
Their encouragement, along with support from his teachers and brother, helped him stay focused and motivated.
AARAV SAYS 'NEVER LOSE HOPE'
Reflecting on his journey during CBSE Class 10 results 2026, Aarav shared a simple but powerful message for students facing difficulties.
“I don’t have any specific mantra, but I can say that never give up and don’t lose hope in life,” he said.
“Never stop doing what you are until you are proud and never, ever give up. If anything happens, it happens for a reason. Don’t ever lose hope. Everything is possible. Nothing is impossible,” he added.
“It was hard,” Aarav said. “But I did not lose hope. I tried to keep up with my academics and keep myself engaged through movies, books and guitar. It was hard, but I never gave up.”
The CBSE Class 10 results 2026 once again highlighted academic excellence across the country, but Aarav Vats’ story stood out for reasons beyond numbers.
His 96.6% score reflects not just academic performance but also resilience, discipline, and determination during a prolonged medical battle.
For Aarav, the journey was not only about clearing an exam, it was about continuing life with courage, even when circumstances were extremely challenging.
