The investigation into the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak has intensified, with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arresting two more accused linked to the leakage and circulation of examination questions.
The latest arrests include a doctor from Maharashtra’s Latur and a faculty member from a Pune-based coaching institute, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 13 as the agency continues to trace the wider conspiracy and leak network.
CBI ARRESTS TWO MORE ACCUSED IN NEET PAPER LEAK CASE
The CBI has arrested two additional persons in connection with the NEET-UG 2026 examination paper leak case. The newly arrested accused are Dr Manoj Shirure, a doctor based in Latur, and Tejas Harshadkumar Shah, a physics faculty member at Pune-based Dr Abhang Prabhu Medical Academy (APMA).
With these arrests, the total number of accused arrested in the case has risen to 13.
LATUR-BASED DOCTOR ALLEGEDLY FACILITATED CHEMISTRY QUESTION LEAK
According to the CBI, Dr Manoj Shirure allegedly played a key role in facilitating access to leaked Chemistry questions for three students, including the son of an accused coaching centre owner.
Investigators said the chemistry questions were allegedly obtained from another accused, P V Kulkarni.
PUNE COACHING FACULTY ACCUSED OF RECEIVING LEAKED PHYSICS QUESTIONS
The second arrested accused, Tejas Harshadkumar Shah, worked as a Physics faculty member at APMA in Pune.
CBI alleged that Shah received leaked Physics questions of the NEET-UG 2026 examination from arrested accused Manisha Havaldar.
The agency said investigations are ongoing to uncover the complete chain of the leak and the broader conspiracy behind the case.
So far, the CBI has conducted searches at 49 locations across the country and seized several incriminating materials, including documents, laptops and mobile phones. Detailed forensic and technical analysis of the seized devices is underway.
CASE REGISTERED FOLLOWING EDUCATION MINISTRY COMPLAINT
The CBI registered the case on May 12, 2026, based on a written complaint from the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, regarding the alleged paper leak in the NEET-UG 2026 examination.
Following the registration of the case, multiple special investigation teams were constituted and searches were carried out at several locations nationwide.
ACCUSED ARRESTED FROM MULTIPLE CITIES
The 13 accused arrested so far belong to various locations including Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, Latur and Ahilyanagar.
The investigation has reportedly identified the source and circulation network involved in the leakage of Chemistry, Biology and Physics questions that were allegedly shared before the examination. The probe remains underway.
