NEET-UG re-exam June 21: Education Minister reviews security and readiness at centres
Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed readiness and security arrangements for the NEET-UG re-examination on June 21. The meeting focused on tighter surveillance measures and candidate-friendly facilities amid scrutiny of exam processes.
With the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level review meeting to assess readiness and examine security arrangements ahead of the nationwide exam.
The meeting was attended by former ISRO chief K. Radhakrishnan, who currently heads the High-Powered Steering Committee overseeing the implementation of reforms recommended for the National Testing Agency (NTA). Senior officials from the Ministry of Education, the Higher Education Department, and NTA were also present.
During the review, NTA Director General briefed the participants on additional steps introduced to strengthen examination security and improve monitoring systems. Officials discussed existing surveillance mechanisms and plans to expand them further to ensure smooth conduct of the examination.
The review comes amid continued scrutiny of examination processes in the country, placing greater focus on transparency and security in national-level entrance tests.
According to officials, the NEET-UG re-examination will be conducted at more than 5,400 examination centres spread across 550 cities nationwide.
While stressing the importance of exam security, Pradhan said arrangements at centres should also prioritise student convenience. He emphasised the need for adequate facilities and a supportive environment for candidates appearing in the examination.
