Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not a factor in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly election.
Speaking at the India Today Tamil Nadu Roundtable, Karti Chidambaram said, "Mr. Modi is not a factor in this election." At the roundtable in Chennai, former BJP Tamil Nadu President K. Annamalai and Congress MP Karti Chidambaram debated the political landscape ahead of the 2026 state elections. Annamalai argued that public dissatisfaction with the DMK government, evidenced by protests from doctors and teachers, indicates a shift toward the NDA, particularly among Gen Z voters. He defended the BJP-AIADMK alliance, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s welfare schemes and the legacy of AIADMK leaders. Conversely, Chidambaram asserted that the United India alliance remains strong, dismissing the Prime Minister as a non-factor in the state.
