TVK chief Vijay has filed his second nomination from Trichy after earlier filing from Perambur, escalating his electoral challenge to Chief Minister MK Stalin and the AIADMK in what is considered a DMK stronghold. The Trichy seat has a significant urban base with around 35 per cent minority voters, including a notable Christian population. The constituency's demographics, especially youth and floating voters, can play a decisive role in swinging the results. Trichy also serves as a gateway to central Tamil Nadu, making it a pathway to Fort St. George. If Vijay manages to win Trichy, it could significantly boost his state-wide visibility. The seat carries historical weight as it is associated with leaders like CN Annadurai and MGR.
