Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti said "I want to remind them that Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim majority state. It's not like Bihar or UP. There were certain conditions under the Indian constitution that was guaranteed on us. We were guaranteed Article 370, which gives J&K special status, separate Constitution, flag."
In an exclusive interview with India Today's Rajdeep Sardesai, Mehbooba Mufti said that if "Article 370 is abolished, India will become an occupational force in J&K.
Article 370 grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir and Article 35A empowers the state legislature to define the states "permanent residents" and their special rights and privileges.
