Mamata Banerjee offers to step down as Bengal CM after poll setback

Mamata Banerjee offered to resign as Bengal CM during the Trinamool Congress (TMC) emergency meeting after ceding ground to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recently held Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP also shocked the TMC in assembly bypolls that were held alongside the Lok Sabha election. The BJP won four out the eight assembly bypolls in West Bengal, while the TMC won three.
