In a major blow to the Opposition, Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the review petition filed by 21 parties demanding 50 per cent VVPATs to be counted during the election results. The bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said the Supreme Court was not inclined to interfere. The Opposition parties had argued that the Election Commission was conducting VVPAT matching for less than 0.44 per cent of EVMs in the country.
The Opposition, however, has said it would continue its fight and approach the Election Commission again asking them to review their vote counting guidelines.
