Maa Hai Na trailer: Shilpa Shetty's show promises kitchen chaos and laughter
The trailer of Maa Hai Na introduces popular television personalities cooking with their mothers. The upcoming ZEE5 series, hosted by Shilpa Shetty Kundra, turns kitchen challenges into a test of family bonds.

The trailer of Maa Hai Na has been released, setting up a mix of kitchen chaos, comedy and emotion ahead of the reality show’s premiere on ZEE5 on June 12. Hosted by actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra, the non-fiction original places family relationships at the centre of a cooking contest, with younger contestants teaming up with their mothers for a series of challenges.
Spread across 10 episodes, the show is being pitched as more than a race to finish a dish. The trailer makes it clear that the real story sits between the recipes, as contestants cook alongside their mothers while revisiting their bond, their communication and the comfort they share. It frames the format as a lively clash between Gen Z speed and shortcuts, and a mother’s traditions and wisdom.
Kitchen chaos with heart
The makers describe Maa Hai Na as a high-energy comedy cooking show with warmth at its core. The line-up brings together celebrity contestants, digital creators and television personalities. What begins as a challenge over ingredients and instructions gradually turns into a journey of rediscovery, built around love, lessons and the lifelong bond between children and their mothers.
The trailer also adds a disruption track. Just when contestants begin to settle into a rhythm, television personalities Ali Asgar and Chandan Kumar, as well as comedian Gaurav Kapoor, step in to raise the pressure. Ali and Chandan bring interruptions and humour, while Gaurav appears as the show’s ‘Seeti’, throwing in twists that make the challenges tougher, funnier and less predictable.
Shilpa Shetty Kundra on the show
Speaking about the trailer, Shilpa said, “The moment I watched the trailer of Maa Hai Na, it instantly reminded me of how emotional and chaotic kitchens can be in every Indian family. Maa Hai Na is not just about cooking; it’s about those little moments between a mother and child that we often take for granted."
"The show has laughter, pressure, nostalgia, and genuine emotions that surprised me, and I love how beautifully it captures the madness and magic of that relationship. A complete show packed with great energy, entertainment and emotion. What I didn’t expect at all was that in all the humour we found emotions that were heartwarming and just like we believe in every Indian home, ‘Maa hai Na toh Sab possible hai !! (As long as mom is there, everything is possible),’” she added.
Confirmed contestants
The announced contestants are Sunita Ahuja with daughter Tina Ahuja, Urvashi Dholakia with son Kshitij Dholakia, Tanya Mittal with mother Sunita Mittal, Gullu with mother Munesh Tanwar, Shahida Ansari with nephew Afghan, Bhagyashre E Sharma with mother Rinju Sharma, and Manisha Rani with her father Manoj Kumar.
The series will begin streaming on ZEE5 from June 12.
