For a lot of the big tech giants out there, India is a country that is bursting with possibilities making it one of the biggest technology hubs in the world. Take Facebook, for example, which sees over 241 million active users in India alone as of July last year. The social media giant knows the country is a huge market to test out its latest innovations. That's what is being talked about by Ash Jhaveri, Vice President of Business Development, Facebook in a discussion titled "Two I's of Facebook: Innovation and India" at the India Today Conclave 2018 in Mumbai.
Jhaveri talks a little bit about his work with VR. "Virtual reality as of now is a lot around gaming." But more than that the ability of "people connecting with people is the fundamental thing about breaking barriers." And VR looks to make that happen. The possibility of putting on a headset and connect and empathise with someone halfway around the world in "prison" or some situation is a very real possibility that Facebook is working on.
