Himachal flood fury: Large part of Kullu-Manali highway washed away

Destruction is occurring in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu and Manali districts due to flooding in Beas River. A significant portion of the Kullu-Manali National Highway 3 has been washed away, and several structures, including a two-story building, restaurants, and shops, have collapsed into the river. The flooding also affected the neighbouring state of Punjab, with districts like Gurdaspur experiencing inundation and villagers being forced to evacuate. An alert is in place until the 30th, with authorities conducting evacuations from low-lying areas. One resident described the situation, stating, "I am 60 years old, I have never seen so much water till now." The government's response is reportedly faster this time compared to previous events, focusing on moving people to safer zones as the region deals with the impact of the rainfall.
