Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra has resumed from the base camp in Katra, Reasi district, after a 22-day suspension. The pilgrimage was halted following a massive landslide on the Yatra track near Ardhkuwari area on August 26, a tragedy in which more than 30 devotees lost their lives and many others were injured. Authorities have now cleared the rubble from the track, allowing the Yatra to recommence. Devotees arriving at the Darshini Deori, the starting point, are being issued RFID cards after registration. Although pilgrim numbers are low on the first day of resumption, those present are excited about the religious journey. According to the reporter, they said that "they are going to pray for the peace and prosperity of everyone." Katra is gradually returning to normalcy as pilgrims begin the trek once more.
