Massive traffic jam at Delhi-Noida Border amid farmers' march and heightened security measures | IN PICS

Since December 2023, farmers in Noida and Greater Noida have been staging protests, advocating for increased compensation and improved plots in exchange for land previously acquired by local development authorities.

The farmers' groups called for a 'kisan mahapanchayat' and organised a protest march to Parliament in the national capital on Thursday  to address their demands.

From the early hours on Thursday, massive traffic congestion has been observed at the Delhi-Noida border following farmers' declaration of a rally and subsequent march towards Parliament.
 

Numerous motorcycles and cars were struck in the traffic jam at Sarita Vihar during the morning, with reports of substantial congestion also emerging on the route from Delhi to Noida.
 

A 24-hour imposition of Section 144 has been initiated, leading to the sealing of all borders, accompanied by significant security deployment at all the borders.

As per the order, the restrictions encompass prohibiting gatherings of more than five individuals and unauthorized processions, encompassing both religious and political events.

Police halted the farmers at the Noida Mahamaya flyover and have fully blocked the route from Noida to Delhi.
