AI Impact Summit 2026 Highlights: PM Modi calls for human-centric global AI framework at Summit

Narendra Modi says “Aspirational India” will play a key role in the global AI journey, highlights steps taken by the government to boost innovation.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said India is:

• Adding more GPUs to build capacity for innovators
• Providing world-class computing power to startups at affordable rates
• Creating an AI Fund under which 7,500+ datasets and 270 AI models have been shared as national resources

He underlined that India is positioning itself as a major contributor in shaping the future of Artificial Intelligence.

Narendra Modi stresses that ethical use of Artificial Intelligence is “absolutely important”, outlines three key suggestions at AI Impact Summit.

In a post on X, PM Modi said:

• A data framework for AI training must be established while respecting data sovereignty.
• AI platforms must keep their safety rules clear and transparent.
• AI must operate with clear human values and guidance.

“Technology is powerful, but direction must always be determined by humans,” he said.

Pradeep Bhandari, National Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, said that leading AI founders from across the world are standing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as India emerges as one of the top three global destinations for artificial intelligence. He said that while AI summits in other countries witnessed participation in the thousands, India’s summit saw participation in lakhs, reflecting the country’s rapid progress in the sector.

Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Defence and Aerospace, said the recent AI summit was a “tremendous success”, highlighting India’s growing global stature in the field of artificial intelligence. He said the event reflected India’s prowess in bringing together people from different regions and demographics onto a single platform and securing significant commitments towards advancing AI. From an India perspective, Adani stressed that the true value of such initiatives would be realised only when every citizen is able to use and adopt AI in their daily lives. He added that ensuring widespread accessibility and practical integration of AI should remain the central goal for all stakeholders.

Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekharan said that the Artificial Intelligence (AI) wound enhance more job opportutinites and would not replace workers in professional fields.

Microsoft President Brand Smith told ANI that the world has assembled in India so that the global political and tech leaders can promote the use of AI more across the world and especially in global South.
 

"The world has come to India so that we can think together about what we can do to bring AI to more of the world, especially the global South. We have more work to do. It's going to require investments, partnerships by tech companies, by other private capital, by governments. We have to keep investing in skills, which is a big part of what we're doing at Microsoft this week...We're on a pace to invest $50 billion before the end of the decade to bring AI to the global south, both in infrastructure and through skilling, he told ANI.

In his speech, Sam Altman said that India is the fastest-growing market for OpenAI's coding product Codex. 

He also appreciated how majority of the student in the country use ChatGPT.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman highly appreciated India's role in democratising Artificial Intelligence (AI). He said that India is perfectly suited to lead the sovereign AI ecosystem. He also praised how India made AI available for a large chunk of people. 

Altman also called for further democratisation of AI and warned that it could not be limited to a few countries like cancer medicines.

Participating in the World Leaders' Plenary at the AI Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that AI needs to incorporate human values and clear guidelines. He further added that human labour and technological innovation would do wonders if they work hand-in-hand.

In his speech, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani, said that Jio would play a significant role in India's AI transformation. 

He also made three important announcements during his speech. 

In addition, he also mentioned that Jio would take care that no one loses jobs because of AI.

Talking about the Galgotias University fiasco, Nitin Kumar Gaur, the registrar of Galgotias University, told ANI, "We (Galgotias University) have already given our explanation. I told you yesterday that it was a mistake, we are sorry for that... We never want the image of the university or the country to be ruined... We have vacated the stall from there (India AI Impact Summit). We are definitely going to investigate the rest of the things. We will see why this mistake was made and will ensure that no such mistake is repeated... If the image is ruined because of one mistake, then it is unacceptable."

After delivering the keynote address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and global leaders will visit the India AI Impact Expo 2026.

During his keynote address, UN General Secretary Antonio Gutteres said that the future of AI can't be left at the whims of a few billionaires in the world. He also praised the global south's development in AI.

On the fourth day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Google CEO Sundar Pichai delivered his keynote address. 

"We are on the cusp of hyper-progress," he said during his address. The tech tycoon further mentioned that he never thought that Vizag would emerge as a significant place in the AI development scenario. However, it is the reality today.

The fourth day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 includes a vast list of speakers. The list involves OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, Mukesh Ambani. In addition, the ex-United Kingdom Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, will also deliver his lecture.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates will not deliver his address at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 on Thursday. Ankur Vora, President of Africa & India Offices, represent the Gates Foundation.

On the fourth day of the India AI Impact Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the CEO roundtable, where he will meet the senior executives of the global tech giants and discuss the investment possibilities along with supply chain and several other topics.

Along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the French President, Emmanuel Macron, will address the opening ceremony at the India AI Impact Summit on Thursday.

A plethora of events is scheduled on the third day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026. At around 9.40 am, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with the French President Emmanuel Macron and the United Nations' Secretary General, António Guterres. One-and-a-half hours later, he will visit the India AI Impact Expo 2026 along with other leaders. Together, they will visit the pavilions and speak with the techies. 

At noon, a world's leaders' meeting is scheduled to take place at the Bharat Mandapam. The meeting will bring together several heads of State, ministers, and senior representatives from multilateral institutions to outline national and global priorities on AI, including governance, infrastructure, and international cooperation. PM Modi will take part in the meeting. 

In addition, he will attend the CEO roundtable, set to be held at 5.30 pm. PM Modi will have a word with representatives from several big tech firms about investment, research collaboration, supply chains, and deployment of AI systems.
