UP man attacks neighbour with sword suspecting affair with wife, almost severs ear
Preliminary investigation suggested that Nitin suspected an illicit relationship between his wife and Abhishek, which had led to several disputes between them in the past.

Suspecting his neighbour of having an affair with his wife, a man in Ghaziabad attacked him with a sword, causing his ear to be partially chopped off.
The incident took place on the evening of April 16 in the Siddharth Vihar area. The entire attack was caught on CCTV, which showed the accused, identified as Nitin, approaching the survivor, Abhishek Pratap Singh, from behind before engaging in a fight with him.
Preliminary investigation suggested that Nitin suspected an illicit relationship between his wife and Abhishek, which had led to several disputes between them in the past. Police said this suspicion allegedly triggered the violent attack on Thursday.
In the CCTV footage, which has been widely circulated on social media, Abhishek is seen passing by the gate of the Gokuldham Society on his bike before coming to a halt at one corner. He appears to be in a conversation with a man when Nitin, his neighbour who resides in the same housing society, discreetly walks up to him and launches an attack on Abhishek.
Then, the two engage in a fight, attempting to overpower each other. However, Abhishek ends up with what appeared to be the cover of a large sword. Nitin attacks him multiple times until Abhishek drops to the floor, with one hand to his ear. At this time, a man who stood in proximity to the two during the fight, comes forward and stops Nitin from launching any further attacks.
After a few minutes, Abhishek leaves the area with his bike.
Following the survivor's complaint, the police registered a case under Section 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an investigation. Nitin has been arrested and sent to jail.
Police said that the CCTV footage is the key piece of evidence in the probe. They added that all aspects of the case are being examined and promised strict action.
