An Indian diplomatic mission in Bangladesh was rocked on Tuesday after a 35-year-old protocol officer from Haryana was found dead inside the Assistant High Commission premises in Chattogram, prompting police to launch an investigation into the mysterious death.
The deceased officer, identified as Narendra, was serving as a security protocol officer at the Indian mission in Chattogram’s Khulshi area.
According to the Chattogram Metropolitan Police, mission officials alerted local authorities after Narendra failed to respond from inside his room on Tuesday morning.
Police teams later entered the room and recovered his body from inside the premises.
UNNATURAL DEATH CASE TO BE FILED
The Chattogram Metropolitan Police said an unnatural death case would be registered and a detailed investigation would begin after the autopsy.
Officials added that the body would be handed over to the Indian mission once post-mortem formalities are completed.
Authorities have not yet revealed what may have led to the officer’s death.
