Tortured, electrocuted, poisoned: UP woman murders husband with lover's help
Police in Moradabad have arrested a woman, her lover, her sister and another man for allegedly killing her husband. The accused tried to pass off the death as suicide after hours of torture.

A woman, her lover, her sister, and another accomplice have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district for allegedly torturing and murdering her husband before attempting to stage the crime as a suicide, police said.
The incident occurred in the Majhola locality. Police said the victim, Pawan, was held hostage and brutally tortured for nearly three hours before he died.
The trouble began after Pawan discovered an extramarital relationship between his wife Aanchal (24) and her nephew Ankit (21), leading to heated domestic disputes, police said. Pawan and Aanchal had been married for six years and have a 3-year-old daughter.
According to police, Pawan’s murder was premeditated. Aanchal’s sister Shikha (18) had moved into the couple's home four days prior to the incident to assist with the plot. They also roped in Shikha’s boyfriend Ajay (19) to help with the crime.
On the day of the killing, the group initially attempted to force Pawan to ingest poison. When he resisted, the suspects tied him up, beat him, and subjected him to multiple electric shocks for nearly three hours. As his condition deteriorated, they successfully administered poison to simulate a suicide, police said.
After Pawan died, in order to further cover up the crime, the suspects pushed his body down the stairs. They then informed neighbours that he had died from a fall after consuming poison.
The victim’s family said Pawan had feared for his life. According to relatives, he had called his sister about three months ago and expressed suspicion that something could happen to him, but the concerns were not taken seriously at the time.
A senior police official said the four accused -- Aanchal, her lover and nephew, Ankit; her sister, Shikha; and Shikha’s boyfriend, Ajay -- have been arrested and presented in court. All four face murder charges.
Further investigation is underway.
