Following the Prime Minister's appeal, several prominent leaders across the country were seen travelling by rickshaws, bicycles, and public transport, while citizens also began carpooling to commute.
In stark contrast, a massive convoy featuring hundreds of tractors and cars was witnessed during an event for BJP leader and Meerut District Panchayat Chief, Gaurav Chaudhary. Videos of the incident have since gone viral on social media. Accusations have emerged that BJP leaders themselves are blowing the Prime Minister's request into the wind. Responding to the matter, BJP leader and Meerut District Panchayat Chief Gaurav Chaudhary stated that he had arrived at the village event in just his personal vehicle, and it was the local villagers who had brought the tractors and cars. He maintained that he had nothing to do with those vehicles and tractors.
In fact, it is reported that villagers had organised a thanksgiving ceremony for the Meerut District Panchayat Chief and BJP leader Gaurav Chaudhary on Sunday in Kazamabad Goon, a village under the Siwalkhas assembly constituency in Meerut. When Gaurav Chaudhary arrived there, a massive convoy of tractors and cars was seen, videos of which subsequently went viral on social media. Looking at the videos, it appeared clear that the Prime Minister's appeal was completely ignored. Allegations were made that the District Panchayat Chief paraded the convoy through the village simply to showcase his power. A 'Ragini' (folk music) programme was also organised as part of the welcome ceremony for District Panchayat Chief Gaurav Chaudhary, raising several questions about the event.
Regarding the matter, District Panchayat Chief Gaurav Chaudhary clarified that he had reached the programme in the village using only his single vehicle. He stated that the villagers had organised the Thanksgiving ceremony, and he had no connection to the tractors and cars. According to him, those vehicles belonged to the local villagers and remained strictly within the village, with not a single car or tractor moving outside the village boundaries.
