Prateek Yadav Death News Updates: Prateek Yadav, the son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and half-brother of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, died in Lucknow on Wednesday at the age of 38 after a prolonged illness. Prateek, who was also the husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, was brought to Civil Hospital around 6 am, where doctors declared him dead. His postmortem at the KGMU mortuary has now been completed by a panel of doctors under videography surveillance and tight security arrangements. Akhilesh Yadav visited the postmortem house during the proceedings and met doctors, later describing Prateek as a “good person” focused on his business. Preparations are now underway to hand over the body to the family, following which it will be taken to his wife Aparna Yadav’s residence in Lucknow. Prateek Yadav Death Updates: Doctor reveals cause of death

Prateek Yadav, the 38-year-old son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, had been battling deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism and recent cardiac complications, a senior doctor who treated him said on Wednesday.

The provisional postmortem report prepared at the King George's Medical University (KGMU) earlier in the day cited the cause of death as "cardiorespiratory collapse due to massive pulmonary thromboembolism", a condition in which a large blood clot blocks arteries in the lungs leading to sudden heart and lung failure.

Autopsy report confirms cause of death for Prateek Yadav

The post-mortem examination of Prateek Yadav, son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, has confirmed that he died of cardiorespiratory collapse.  According to the official medical document, the collapse was caused by a massive pulmonary thromboembolism.  The 38-year-old fitness enthusiast was brought dead to the Civil Hospital in Lucknow early Wednesday morning after suddenly falling ill.

Prateek Yadav Death Cause: Hospital denies suggesting any poisoning angle

Lucknow’s Civil Hospital issued a clarification on Wednesday stating that it had never expressed any suspicion of poisoning in connection with Prateek Yadav’s death.

According to the hospital’s press release, after doctors declared Prateek Yadav dead, the people accompanying him had initially placed the body in an ambulance to take it home. The statement said family members later expressed a desire for a postmortem examination, by which time senior officials had already been informed.

The hospital added that after completing the panchnama process, the body was sent to King George's Medical University (KGMU) for postmortem. The Civil Hospital reiterated that no suspicion of poisoning had been raised by the institution at any stage.

No external injury marks were found during the postmortem of Prateek Yadav, according to sources familiar with the autopsy findings. Sources said Prateek Yadav’s viscera has been preserved for further examination. His heart has also been preserved as part of the postmortem process.

Officials said the decision was taken considering Prateek Yadav’s significant weight gain in recent years. Sources added that preserving the heart would help in case further examination is required if a heart attack emerges as a possible cause of death.

Prateek Yadav Death Update: Akhilesh Yadav’s brother had filed cheating, extortion case over alleged business dispute

Prateek Yadav had allegedly been under mental stress following a business dispute involving claims of cheating and extortion, according to details from a police case registered last year. In a complaint filed in July 2025, Prateek Yadav alleged that a Chinhat resident, Krishnanand Pandey, had persuaded him to invest crores of rupees in a real estate venture.

According to the complaint, Prateek was made a promoter in the company, while all responsibilities related to land deals and agreements remained under Krishnanand Pandey’s control.

Prateek alleged that despite the sale of several land parcels, no proper financial accounting was provided to him. He further claimed that when he demanded the return of his money, he was threatened with being implicated in a POCSO Act case. The complaint also alleged that the accused threatened to circulate fake audio clips to defame his family.

Prateek Yadav accused Krishnanand Pandey, his wife Vandana Pandey and his father Ashok Pandey of demanding Rs 4 crore as extortion money. A case was registered at Gautampalli police station, and the matter remains under investigation.

Prateek Yadav Death Cause: Civil Hospital director says body showed no signs of life when medical team arrived

Lucknow Civil Hospital director GP Gupta told India Today that Prateek Yadav’s driver had arrived at the hospital around 5.30 am seeking urgent medical assistance, saying his “brother was unwell”.

Gupta said an Emergency Medical Officer (EMO) was immediately sent to the residence, but Prateek Yadav’s body showed no signs of life when the medical team reached there. He added that the body was later brought to the hospital, where doctors again found no signs of life.

According to the director, family members initially intended to take the body back home, after which hospital authorities advised that it be sent for postmortem examination. He added that the family later also agreed to the postmortem.

Responding to speculation, Gupta clarified that he had never described the case as one of “suspected poisoning” and said the exact cause would become clear only after the postmortem report.
