Specially abled woman kidnapped from bus stop, gangraped in Tamil Nadu
The survivor, a daily-wage labourer with hearing and speech impairments, was allegedly kidnapped by two men while she was waiting at a bus stop after completing her shift, according to sources within the police.

Two men, both aged 55, have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and gangraping a 35-year-old speech-and-hearing-impaired woman in Tamil Nadu's Pudukkottai district.
The accused have been identified as S Marimuthu and A Sekar. The survivor, a daily-wage labourer employed at a private rice mill, was allegedly kidnapped by the duo while she was waiting at a bus stop after completing her shift on Sunday, May 17, at around 4.30 pm, according to sources within the police.
The accused men reportedly approached her in a car, offered her a ride, and subsequently forced her into their vehicle when she refused. They allegedly drove her to a secluded spot near a pond in a village and sexually assaulted her.
Local residents gathered at the spot after hearing her cries. A female constable, hailing from the same village, was passing through the area when she noticed the woman and immediately alerted the authorities.
Police personnel rushed to the scene around 8.30 pm. Due to her speech and hearing impairments, the survivor struggled to communicate the details of the alleged assault or describe the vehicle.
Nonetheless, the police swiftly traced one of the men and seized the vehicle used in the purported crime. A special team led by a DSP-rank officer is heading the investigation.
"In connection with this case, accused Marimuthu was arrested within 24 hours through immediate police action and remanded to judicial custody," the police said in a statement.
Sekar, on the other hand, was initially absconding and was arrested on Tuesday, May 19, per the police.
The accused have been booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to offences including gangrape, sexual harassment and wrongful restraint; alongside Section 92(b) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.
