Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has unveiled the state's education policy, presenting it as a direct rebuttal to the central government's National Education Policy (NEP). A central theme is preparing students for global opportunities, with the Chief Minister stating the new policy will "act like a catalyst" to achieve this. Key recommendations include scrapping common entrance tests for undergraduate courses, with admissions to be based solely on Class 11 and 12 marks. The policy also suggests eliminating public exams for classes 3, 5, and 8. The DMK has labeled the national policy as "regressive" and a source of "social injustice." The launch occurs amidst a financial dispute, with Deputy Chief Minister Uday B Stalin claiming the Centre has withheld approximately Rs 2,000 crore in funds under the Samagra Shiksha scheme.
