Funeral of Prateek Yadav in Lucknow today, family confirms
Prateek Yadav, younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, died due to pulmonary thromboembolism, a condition in which blood flow to the lungs is blocked by a clot.

The cremation of Prateek Yadav, son of late Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, who died on Wednesday at the age of 38 due to a cardio-respiratory condition, will take place today in Lucknow, his wife Aparna Yadav confirmed.
“It is with profound sorrow that we inform you that the last rites of Shri Prateek Yadav ji, beloved son of the late former Chief Minister ‘Padma Vibhushan’ Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav ji and dear to all of us, will be performed tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 11:00 AM at Baikunth Dham (Bhainsakund),” Aparna posted on Wednesday.
According to official medical findings, the post-mortem examination confirmed that Prateek, 38, died due to cardiorespiratory collapse caused by a massive pulmonary thromboembolism, a condition in which a large blood clot blocks one or more major arteries in the lungs.
Prateek was taken to Lucknow’s Civil Hospital around 6 am on Wednesday, where doctors declared him dead. Hospital officials said he showed no signs of life when he was brought in, with no pulse and fixed, dilated pupils. Only members of his household staff accompanied him to the hospital.
Sources said Prateek had been unwell for some time and was recently admitted to a private hospital in Lucknow.
Earlier this year, Prateek and Aparna Yadav had publicly spoken about differences in their marriage before later announcing a reconciliation.
On January 19, Prateek posted a series of messages on Instagram alleging that Aparna had strained his ties with family members and said he intended to seek a divorce. In the posts, he described her as “self-centred” and “driven by fame and influence”.
However, on January 28, he announced that the matter had been resolved mutually after discussions between the two. In a video shared on Instagram, Prateek said there was no longer any dispute between them. He later posted another video featuring Aparna with the caption: “Haters, go to hell.”
A few months ago, Prateek had also shared photographs of the family holidaying together on social media. Aparna Yadav currently serves as the vice-chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission and is associated with the BJP.
