145 MPs submit petition to Speaker seeking impeachment of Justice Varma

A motion for the impeachment of Justice Yashwant Varma has been initiated, with 145 Members of Parliament signing the plea submitted to the Speaker. The move, supported by MPs from parties including Congress, TDP, JDU, JDS, and CPM, is in connection with a 'cash haul case' and a report that was before the Supreme Court.

Following the submission of the motion led by a delegation under Ravishankar Prasad, a parliamentary committee is expected to be formed to investigate the matter. The committee will have to submit its report within three months. An unidentified speaker stated, "this committee that has to be created by the parliament will have to investigate this entire matter." The Parliament will vote on the motion after the committee presents its findings. Justice Yashwant Verma has also approached the Supreme Court against the report.
