The Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati respectively have announced an alliance in Uttar Pradesh for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. SP president Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati held a joint press meet in Lucknow to formally announce the tie-up.
Both the parties -SP and BSP - are coming together after 26 years to fight against a resurgent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The bua-bhatija duo are eyeing to challenge the BJP, which won 71 of the 80 seats in the last Lok Sabha elections.
