The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Sunday held a crucial meeting in Uttar Pradesh's capital, Lucknow, where the top officials discussed a range of issues, including the uniform civil code (UCC) and the Gyanvapi dispute.
The board said the government’s decision to implement the Union Civil Code (UCC) would infringe upon the fundamental rights of the citizens, urging the dispensation to shed the idea of the said law.
It said the Constitution gives the right to every citizen to follow their religion, which also includes personal laws. Therefore, the execution of uniform civil law would be illegal.
