The Narendra Modi government has tightened the security arrangements along the twin routes of Baltal and Pahalgam, one day before the Amarnath Yatra commences.
Amid tight security, the first batch of Amarnath pilgrims was flagged off from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu by KK Sharma, Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik, on Sunday.
Fourty thousand troops from the Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police have been deployed to ensure safe pilgrimage. Drones and Satellites will also be used for live monitoring.
Intelligence inputs suggest that Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists may target the Yatra. Home Minister Amit Shah has warned against any complacency in the security arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra.
