Bihar BJP chief Nityanand Rai has sparked off a row by saying that the fingers and hands of those who dare to raise their voice against PM Modi must be chopped off.
Rai was addressing a rally in Patna when he made this remark.
"Modi rose from poverty and became India's PM. Today, every Indian should be proud of Modi. If anyone raises his finger against Modi, his hand will be chopped off", the Bihar BJP unit chief was quoted as saying.
Opposition parties have slammed Rai's provocative comment.
Rai, in his defence, said, "My remark is being misinterpreted. My intention was not to harm or attack anyone. I meant it proverbially."
