A 28-year man from Chennai who was to appear at the court for a hearing, was stabbed to death by a gang of men today in broad daylight.
Vijay Kumar, (28), alias Viji, had 8 pending cases - including attempt to murder - on his name at Kasimedu port Police station. Viji appeared at Georgetown Court on Wednesday for warrant recall on a 2013 crime case. As he was informed that the case would be heard only in the afternoon, he went to a mess at Pavalakarwn street to have his lunch.
While returning back to the court, a gang of men stalked him and jumped on him from behind in broad daylight. Attacked and slashed mercilessly multiple times with sharp weapons, an unconscious Vijay fell down on the ground and died.
Bystanders alerted Muthialpet Police who reached the spot and took Viji to Stanley Hospital, but unfortunately couldn't save Viji. The entire attack on Viji was captured by a CCTV camera which is now helping the police to nab the culprits.
