China has officially conveyed to India that President Xi Jinping will skip the G20 Summit in New Delhi and the Chinese delegation will be led by Premier Li Qiang, sources told India Today on Saturday. Till a day earlier, Special Secretary for the G20, Muktesh Pardeshi, said India was waiting for written confirmation from China on Xi Jinping's attendance at the summit. This will be the first time that Xi Jinping will skip a G20 Summit. Xi Jinping is the second G20 leader to skip the summit which will be held in New Delhi on September 9 and 10. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin told Prime Minister Narendra Modi via a telephonic conversation that he would be unable to attend the summit in-person. Russia would be represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
