As Cyclone Dridwa approaches the Indian coast after causing devastation in Sri Lanka, a special report from the ground in Tamil Nadu details the expected impact. India Today's Pramod Madhav reports that the cyclone is predicted to run parallel to the coast, bringing heavy rains from Nagapattinam to Ramanathapuram before reaching Chennai, Puducherry, and northern Andhra Pradesh. The Met Department has warned that the cyclone could turn into a depression. Madhav notes that officials have urged the public to be 'extra cautious... not to venture out without any valid reason, because there could be actually localized floods'. Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors to prevent untoward incidents from high winds and potential electrical wire snaps.
