BJP MP Narayan Rane, credited by locals for the district's development, remains a respected figure in Sindhudurg. The district recently gained attention after the collapse of a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji, sparking a political showdown between Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi.

Sindhudurg, known for its beaches, is often favoured by tourists, who sometimes choose it over nearby Goa for its scenic coastal spots. This election season, however, it’s the Rane family rivalry that has become the main attraction.
