Ex-student arrested in connection with death of Jadavpur University student

A former student of Jadavpur University (JU) was apprehended and charged with murder on Friday following the untimely demise of first-year student Swapnodeep Kundu. Sourabh Chowdhury, now under scrutiny as the primary suspect, had completed his postgraduation in mathematics from the university in 2022. Intriguingly, despite his academic completion, Chowdhury maintained an influential presence within the university's boys' main hostel. Notably, he continued to reside there and informally wielded authority as the overseer of the hostel's mess committee.
