As the Enforcement Directorate issued fresh summons to celebrity billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi on Friday in the Rs11,380-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud, the chairman and MD of Gitanjali Gems claimed that a "situation of fear and injustice has been created against" him and his organisation.
In an email sent to his employees and accessed by India Today, Choksi claimed that the situation has turned grave with "recent false allegations levelled against me of defrauding PNB and the media frenzy". He alleged that "multiple investigating/government agencies are creating havoc and hell bent on stopping" his Indian operations.
"The justice that I deserve is far off as it shall take time to prove my innocence, and the future seems uncertain," Choksi further wrote.
