Farmers tractor rally: Situation tense at Delhi border as farmers break through police barricades

A large group of farmers, along with their tractors, who were camping at the Singhu border to protest against the new farm laws head towards the national capital as part of their tractor rally on Republic Day. Thousands of farmers near the Singhu border knocked down police barricades as they marched ahead towards Delhi.

Protesting farmer unions opposing the three contentious farm laws had earlier said their parade will not enter central Delhi. The Delhi Police has given a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to the protesting farmer unions for their proposed Republic Day tractor parade with 37 conditions, including capping the number of participants and allocating a fixed time slot, officials said on Monday.

Meanwhile, New Delhi has been brought under heavy security cover with the deployment of thousands of security personnel.
