This is the second time in less than two years that the government has come out with proposal for selling stake in Air India, which has been in the red for long.
As political war erupted over the government's decision, Congress leader Kapil Sibal said: "When governments don't have money this is what they do. Government of India has no money, growth is less than 5 per cenr and millions of rupees outstanding under MNREGA. This is what they will do, sell all the valuable assets we have." BJP MP Subramanian Swamy has also reacted.
