Watch | Heavy rainfall lashes Uttarakhand, highways blocked due to landslide

Uttarakhand has been witnessing heavy rainfall since Friday, which has led to flooding in low-lying parts of the state. Badrinath National Highway was blocked on Friday due to a landslide in the Gulabkoti and Kaudia areas of Chamoli, whereas the Rishikesh-Srinagar highway was temporarily closed near Uttarakhand's Tehri-Garhwal on Saturday.

In Uttarakhand, several villages are in the dark as heavy rain has disrupted the supply of electricity in the area. In Rudraprayag, all the ghats and the famous Shiv Murti have been completely submerged in water. Similarly, Paramarth Niketan's famous Shiv Pratima in Rishikesh is almost submerged as the water level crossed danger level. The city’s famous Triveni Ghat is also underwater now.

As per the Indian Meteorological department (IMD), Uttarakhand's hill districts will continue to witness heavy rains in the upcoming days. The weather department has issued a red alert for the next three days.
